There are quite a few changes to the Chevy HD in 2024 as the heavy duty pickup went through a refresh for the 2024 model year. The exterior has been redesigned so that it is a bit more aggressive looking and athletic. Beyond that quite a few changes were made to the packages offered on certain trims, for example the Midnight Edition package is now offered on the High-Country trim.

The interior also received a new look as the infotainment center was upgraded to be more modern and now includes a massive digital touchscreen like most vehicles now sport. Even the engines were not safe from this refresh as the Duramax diesel got upgraded to output 470 horsepower with 975 pound-feet of torque. To streamline production Chevy also updated the gas engines with the same ten-speed transmission found in the diesel engines.

We know that the HD really is only built to haul massive trailers and toys, to make this even easier the new HD truck has more features built in for trailering. Adaptive cruise control can now factor in your increased braking distance when towing and accounts for the drag from whatever you may be towing.

The most exciting addition to the 2024 Silverado HD is the new ZR2 trim which offers more off-roading features such as an electronically locking rear diff, multimatic spool-valve dampers, steel skid plates and 35 inch all terrain tires. If this is not enough for you, there is now an even beefier option with the ZR2 Bison which is built with more off-roading features by American Expedition Vehicles.

The 2024 HD makes building a truck easy, there are only two engine options and you choose which hard worker you want based on which fuel you want to pay for.

The base gasoline engine is a 6.6 liter V-8 that can output 401 horses and has 464 pound-feet of torque. This engine can tow up to 17,400 pounds. The optional engine is a 6.6 liter V-8 Duramax diesel engine that makes for 470 horses and 975 pound-feet of torque. This engine can tow up to 36,000 pounds. Whichever engine you choose it is sure to get the job done and to help you pull your toys, livestock, or tools to wherever they need to go.
