The 2027 Chevrolet Colorado receives a collection of powertrain, capability, and equipment changes rather than a full redesign. Its 2.7-liter turbocharged four-cylinder moves from the previous L3B designation to the new L4B TurboMax, while the eight-speed automatic transmission carries over. Reports have suggested output could eventually increase to as much as 350 horsepower and 440 lb-ft of torque, but Chevrolet has not officially confirmed those figures, so the existing output should remain the reference point until final specifications are released.
Towing ratings also change for 2027, with the Colorado now topping out at 7,000 pounds when properly equipped, down from 7,700 pounds on most previous configurations but up from 6,000 pounds for the ZR2. Chevrolet also adds Storm Gray, Serpent Metallic, and Nitron Blue exterior colors, along with revised wheel availability. The ZR2 gains a new Convenience Package III, adding features such as ventilated front seats, a heated steering wheel, driver memory, wireless phone charging, and a six-way power passenger seat. Production is expected to begin in October 2026, putting initial dealership arrivals around late fall or winter.
The 2027 Chevrolet Colorado has a maximum towing capacity of 7,000 pounds when properly equipped, according to published order-guide information reported by TFLtruck. That represents a 700-pound decrease from the 7,700-pound maximum offered by most properly equipped 2026 Colorado configurations. The change coincides with the Colorado's transition from the previous L3B version of the 2.7-liter TurboMax to the new L4B engine designation, although output currently remains listed at 310 horsepower and 430 lb-ft of torque.
Interestingly, the revised rating also benefits the off-road-focused Colorado ZR2. While the 2026 ZR2 was limited to 6,000 pounds, the 2027 model reportedly increases its maximum to 7,000 pounds, putting it on equal footing with the rest of the lineup when properly equipped. TFLtruck notes that the towing revision could be related to changes associated with the L4B TurboMax, but Chevrolet has not yet detailed the precise reason for the new rating

For 2027, the Chevrolet Colorado continues with WT, LT, Trail Boss, Z71, and ZR2 trims, but Chevrolet is expanding the availability of its convenience packages. The LT Convenience Package remains tailored specifically to the LT, adding comfort and technology features beyond the truck's standard equipment. WT, Trail Boss, and Z71 models have their own trim-specific convenience packages, allowing buyers to add equipment without moving to a different trim level.
The bigger change for 2027 is expanded Convenience Package III availability. Chevrolet now offers the package on the Z71 and ZR2, with equipment varying by configuration. Available upgrades include ventilated front seats, driver-seat memory, a heated steering wheel, wireless phone charging, and additional interior storage. Z71 and ZR2 models can also gain a new six-way power-adjustable front passenger seat with power lumbar support through Convenience Package III.
