The 2020 Chevrolet Colorado and 2020 Jeep Gladiator are two midsize trucks to consider, but if you are looking for a midsize truck that has the ability to adapt and excel to most any task, the 2020 Chevrolet Colorado is the truck for you. Let Burlington Chevrolet help you make your choice.
Trims and Pricing
The 2020 Chevrolet Colorado offers it all in a midsize truck. You can enjoy a smooth, comfortable ride around town or venture out on the off-road. It offers plenty of trims to choose from for your driving experience: Base, WT, LT, Z71, and ZR2. The Base trim offers an Extended Cab/long bed, with the WT and LT trims offering available Crew Cab/short bed and Crew/long bed configurations. The Z71 and ZR2 feature off road abilities and are capable of tackling trails and terrain. The Z71 and ZR2 are available in Extended Cab and Crew Cab/short bed configurations. There are plenty of available bed features, including multiple tie downs, a step built into the corners of the rear bumper, and an EZ Lift-and-Lower tailgate. Higher trims will offer a leather-wrapped tilt-and-telescoping steering wheel and optional heated front seats. The Base trim seats two, while the Extended cab seats four and the Crew Cab models seat five. The Base trim starts off at an affordable $21,300 and ranges to a starting price of $41,400 for the top trim ZR2 Extended Cab models.
Unlike its competitor the 2020 Jeep Gladiator doesn’t have multiple cab styles or bed lengths, featuring a 5-foot bed length. The Gladiator seats five people and comes standard with cloth seats. There is available leather upholstery, heated front seats, premium cloth upholstery, and a heated steering wheel. It offers comfortable and supportive seats and plenty of head- and legroom. The Gladiator also turns into a convertible, with its removable top and doors. It features four trims: Sport, Sport S, Overland, and Rubicon. The Sports trim starts off at a base price of $33,545 and ranges to a starting price of $43,545 for the Rubicon.
Power
The Chevrolet Colorado features a fuel efficient 200-horsepower four-cylinder engine with a six-speed automatic transmission and rear-wheel drive. With plenty of power, this is great for everyday driving needs. An optional 308-horsepower V6 engine or a 2.8-liter turbocharged four-cylinder diesel engine with an eight-speed automatic transmission is available. The Z71 and ZR2 models offer four-wheel drive, along with heavy-duty suspension and locking rear differential. The ZR2 is even more capable with driver-selectable full-locking front and rear differential.
The Gladiator engine is powered by a 285-horsepower 3.6-liter V6 and is adequate for most driving situations, but it lacks the energetic feel of some rivals during acceleration. This V6 is the only engine option. The standard six-speed manual transmission needs improvement, but an available eight-speed automatic is smooth and responsive.
Safety and Tech
The Chevy Colorado’s available OnStar System provides emergency crash notification, stolen-vehicle notification, and remote locking and unlocking. This safety package comes standard on the LT and above. Also available on the LT and Z71 models includes forward collision and lane departure warning systems. A rearview camera and the Teen Driver Mode comes standard on all models, and lets you have custom key settings for secondary drivers and provides in-vehicle reports. Chevrolet’s Infotainment 3 system comes standard in the Colorado and includes a 7-inch touch screen, Bluetooth, two USB ports, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and a six-speaker audio system. Its infotainment system is easy-to-use with easy to reach controls and an intuitive menu layout.
The Gladiator comes standard with a rearview camera, and available features that include blind spot monitoring, rear cross traffic alert, rear parking sensors, adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning, and automatic emergency braking. Every Gladiator comes standard with the Uconnect infotainment system, with a 5-inch touchscreen, an eight-speaker audio system, two USB ports, and Bluetooth. Available features include Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, a 7- or 8.4-inch touch screen, satellite radio and HD Radio.
