From towing to hauling to offroading — everything a work truck needs to do — the Chevrolet Colorado does in spades. The 2026 model year will carry this proud tradition with best-in-class towing and engine output, and a cabin that feels deeply modern.

Key takeaways:

  • Great on- and off-road manners
  • The new Colorado will start at $32,400
  • As always we expect a comfortable, styled interior

What are the changes for the 2026 Colorado?

2026 Chevy Colorado Towing

Recently refreshed in 2023, the Colorado will remain largely unchanged from the 2025 to 2026 model year. A new White Sands color and redesigned 20-inch tires will be available.

How much will the 2026 Chevy Colorado cost?

2026 Chevy Colorado Interior

The lowest trim, the Work Truck or WT will start at $32,400. This puts it near the lowest price among midsize trucks, but its quality is certainly not reflective of that. The WT comes with a strong suite of features, and all the practical essentials you’d expect out of a truck. Not that the upper trims are slouches, though.

The upper trims, starting with the $42,495 Trail Boss, are excellently capable offroaders, and give a flavorful shot of fun to an already practical truck.

Will the 2026 Chevy Colorado have a 6 foot bed?

No. The 2026 Chevy Colorado will have only a five-foot-two-inch bed on a crew cab. If you need a larger bed, you’d need an up-size to the Chevy Silverado, but the five foot bed holds well for day-to-day uses.

How many miles per gallon does a 2026 Colorado get?

With the 2.7 TurboMax engine, the 2WD non-offroad trims will run 19/23mpg city/highway, while the 4WD will manage 17/21 city/highway. The higher-performance trims will run from 16-17 mpg city and 16-20 mpg highway depending on the specific features. This figure falls into the center of the midsize truck.

How much horsepower does the 2026 Chevy Colorado have?

The Chevy Colorado will have 310hp and 430lb-ft of torque from the aforementioned 2.7 TurboMax engine. This robust power train lends the Colorado a surprisingly punchy ride, and lends itself well to heavy towing or difficult off-roading.

Despite its truckish lineage and punchy engine, the Colorado will retain excellent on-road manners. It corners like a vehicle much smaller than it, and brakes confidently with minimal body roll.

How much can a 2026 Chevy Colorado tow?

The 2026 Chevy Colorado will have a towing capacity of 7,700lbs with the trailering kit, and a hauling capacity of 1,710lbs. Certain trims, such as the ZR2 have a reduced 6,000lbs towing capacity. Overall, the Colorado is squarely atop the midsize truck market in both towing and hauling, proudly wearing its midsize badge and making for an effective and cost-efficient workhorse truck.

What’s the interior like?

The Chevy Colorado sports a handsome, modern interior, despite its minimal cost. It features a large infotainment and digital instrument cluster, as well as forgiving rear seating. It comes across every part the modern, effective truck Chevrolet intended it to be.

Is it safe?

The Colorado comes with a variety of standard safety features, such as: Front and back automatic emergency braking, blind spot warnings, collision monitoring, etc. The backup camera has a helpful hitch view, allowing you to align a hitch solo.

When can I order a 2026 Chevy Colorado?

The Colorado began production on July 7th, 2025, and will likely be available in the coming weeks.

Our thoughts:

Midsize trucks are America’s workhorses — and the Colorado wears that badge proudly. It shines in all the places midsize trucks are needed, but never stumbles elsewhere. It’s every bit the modern work truck and weekend warrior you could ask for.

If you’d like to see how this workhorse can change how you work — or even how you have fun — for yourself, come down to Burlington Chevrolet for a test drive today.
