The Chevrolet Equinox is available as four trim models – the LS, 1LT, 2LT, and LTZ. All models deliver an impressive range of comfort and convenience features. The entry-level LS comes with a variety of high-tech items. Its OnStar telematics increases safety with features like automatic crash notification an on-demand roadside assistance.

Higher trim models create an even more luxurious ride. Feature highlights include a rearview camera, which makes backing up a snap. The available leather upholstery sets a luxurious tone. High-tech safety systems like lane-departure warning keep drivers alert to what they otherwise might not notice.

The Chevy Equinox’s base engine is a 2.4-liter four-cylinder that makes 182 horses and 172 pound-feet of torque. There’s also an optional engine, available for all but the LS model. The 3.6-liter V6 boosts output to 301 horses and 272 pound-feet of torque. Both engines are paired with a six-speed automatic transmission that shifts gears seamlessly. Although front-wheel drive is standard, shoppers can choose to add all-wheel drive.

On the road, the Chevrolet Equinox produces a quiet, composed ride. Inside, the cabin is stylish and comfortable. The sliding rear seat maximizes legroom and keeps passengers cozy during long commutes. The cargo hold offers plenty of space for everyday items like sporting equipment and family-size grocery hauls. Overall, the Equinox is one of the best vehicles in its class.

Used buyers should note that there have been a few changes throughout this generation. From 2010 through 2012, the optional engine was a 3.0-liter V6 that produced 264 horses and 222 pound-feet of torque. Smartphone app integration and the optional rear-seat entertainment system were introduced in 2013.

Entry-level models were equipped with everything drivers need for a safe, comfortable trip, including full power accessories. Upper trim models delivered luxury with features like leather upholstery and a more firmly tuned suspension.

The first-generation Equinox ran on a 3.4-liter V6 engine that produced 185 horses and 210 pound-feet of torque. When the Sport model debuted in 2008, it got its own engine – a 3.6-liter V6 that generated a robust 264 horses.
